In medical cases, a patient's x-ray is commonly used to show physical evidence of an injury. X-rays can be scanned like photographs to graphically show broken bones, fixation devices, etc.... Depending on the quality of the x-ray and what you are trying to show, the x-ray can be left as a negative, or, turned into a positive. Also, as seen in the sample below, a medical illustration depicting the injury in the x-ray can be put on the same board for a dramatic effect.
